The last 6/7 months have been pretty crazy... recovering from the transplant, while getting back to freelance work, as well as trying to complete the final stages of post-production for my film.

* Editing the fine cut (2nd Version) & hosting online film screening in December πŸ“Ί

* Crowdfunding for post-production. Ended in January with a total of Β£20k!! πŸ™πŸΌ

* Collaborating with @maxstanton_ who's creating an epic theme track for the film!

* Obtaining licenses for commercial music 🎢 (ongoing) @danielnorgrenofficial @thebeesmusic

* Learning (trial and error) the formats to provide audio and colour grading teams. πŸ”ŠπŸŽ¨ @vaudevillesound & @digital_orchard

* Refining narrative with editor @andy.sowerby 🎞

* Writing new scenes and editing existing script ✍️

* Wondering what the hell I'm doing πŸ€”

How could someone in their right mind go and cut this tree down?!

I came across Sycamore Gap in the Northumberland National Park while travelling the country, working for @meandyouprods and visited this site on my day off.

Such a gorgeous and unique spot with a single tree along Hadrian's Wall... destroyed by some absolute IDIOT!! 😑😑😑

My incredible Dad gave me a kidney!
WARNING - Graphic Content! ➑️

We arrived at The Churchill Hospital first thing on Friday morning, Mike went down to theater and 4 hours later the surgeon had removed his left kidney... It was an anxious wait to say the least.
Then I was taken through and 5 hours later, I had the second-hand engine installed in my right side.

Sicked up a few times from the anaesthetic as I woke up, but I genuinely couldn't believe how much better I felt immediately! It felt like my whole body had been flushed through and I could feel that the toxins were on their way out!

It was a euphoric time for both of us on Saturday morning... before the reality, scale and physical pain of what just took place kicked in!

Mike's had a rough ride and feels light-headed all the time. I'm so proud to have such an amazing, selfless and caring Dad. He means the world to me, not just because he's given me a kidney to save my life, but he's always been a huge support for me throughout my personal challenges with this condition.

It's fair to say this has been the most highly-anticipated event of my life... the so-called 'timebomb' has detonated and there's no explosion! How infectious an idea can be... causing the mind to create the scariest of scenarios.

Having said that, the scariest moment was yesterday morning when I woke up at 5am with an insanely swollen wound area and had to be taken back to theatre to clear a blockage. After a couple of hours in surgery again, the kidney was flushed through and fixed up. Everything's working fine now and I'm in a lil more pain than before, with a slightly larger scar, but I'm so grateful for the amazing team who work so hard here!

It's a huge turning point in my life and I'm so lucky to avoid dialysis. I want to say a HUGE thank you to all my family and friends who've been so supportive... and to the team here at the Churchill in Oxford, you guys are incredible. Onwards... let's get it!

It's @worldkidney_day today and I just wanted to dedicate this post to say thank you to @nationalkidneyfoundation @pkdcharity @kidneycareuk @kidney_research_uk and @renalassociation for working together to bring awareness to Chronic Kidney Disease!

My battle with kidney disease started from an early age but the crucial moment that planted the most rotten seed in my mind, was when I was ten years old and a doctor informed me that "it's like a timebomb, no-one know when your kidneys are going to fail."

That statement ruled my perspective on life for the next 20 years and affected me in more ways than anyone can imagine.

Although living with Alport syndrome has been the primary cause of my anxiety, episodes of depression and a constant looming cloud of self-doubt... I can now wholeheartedly say that I'm grateful. I'm grateful for my diagnosis, and I'm grateful for the life that it's motivated me to live. Without the threats that accompany my diagnosis, I might not have had the drive to achieve all the things I've done in my life...

I wouldn't have met the amazing community of people I know now, through @alportuk and @alportsyndromefndn - meeting other people going through the exact same challenges as me and learning about the variations of the condition has been truly inspiring. It gives me even more motivation to live life to the full.

Taking a tiny pill made by @novartisuk and @sandozglobal every day since I was 17 has prevented my kidneys from failing sooner... the blood tests, the moulds in my ears to make hearingaids, the countless eye appointments and cataract surgery when I was 18, the advice and reassurance of regular check ups, filling big bottles of 24 hour urine samples and potentially undergoing a transplant in the near-ish future... all through the @nhsengland has helped shape the resilient, active and grateful person I am today.

Kidney disease will never be glamorous, but who needs glamour when there's so much to gain from developing a different perspective to adversity?!

It's about embracing fear, accepting vulnerability and focussing on the positives in life... Happy World Kidney Day peeps! X
